NU-CoE Centre for Creativity & Innovation


The primary motto of Caledonian Centre for Creativity and Innovation is to play as a guiding force to create the spirit of innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship among staff and students. The centre aims to connect with organizations and individuals in Oman and outside to encourage students and help them to draw on to a business environment.

CCCI aims to provide a launching pad to budding engineers and academicians with entrepreneurship awareness, job creation opportunities and to act as a connecting link between college and other industrial entities. We also intended to encourage product development, to act as a launching pad with preincubation and business creation opportunities coupled with training, education and information services.


CCCI has established cooperation and partnership with reputed organisations at home and abroad to support innovative performance in order to ensure the effectiveness of entrepreneurship in Oman.

The major partners are Technopark Technology Business Incubator (T-TBI) Centre in Trivandrum, Kerala, India and the University of Technology Mara (UiTM, Malaysia)

Technopark Technology Business Incubator (T-TBI)-Trivandrum, India ( Technopark Technology Business Incubator (T-TBI), a joint initiative of Technopark, Trivandrum and the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, is avidly helping the technology business start-ups with all the necessary resources and supports they need to evolve and grow as a ripened business. T-TBI provide incubatees with necessary infrastructure support, technology/ prototype development support, research assistance, help in getting funding, business consulting assistance and do whatever is necessary to make the start-up a success. 

University of Technology Mara (UiTM,Malaysia) ( UiTM is Malaysia's largest institution of higher learning in terms of size and population. It has experienced phenomenal growth since its inception in 1956 and it is still growing. The university has expanded nationwide with 15 branch campuses, three satellite campuses, 9 city campuses and 21 affiliated colleges. With this vast network and a workforce of 17,000, the university offers more than 300 academic programmes in a conducive and vibrant environment. It is also home to some 172,000 students.

The University is committed to helping students achieve the highest scholarly level and to prepare them for careers in public and professional practice in various fields. Its formation is based on a vision of outstanding scholarship and academic excellence that is capable of providing leadership in various arenas. The UiTM is now elevated as the premier entrepreneurial university in Malaysia particularly through the establishment of Malaysian Academy of SME and Entrepreneurship Development (MASMED)

Facilities Available

CCCI has a full-fledged incubation lab facility solely meant for entrepreneurship and project incubation activities. The computers are installed with latest software which aids the students in pursuing entrepreneurial and research oriented ventures. The students are also got the access to other laboratories of CCE like Mechatronics, CAD/CAM, Process CAD, Dynamic and Material Testing, Chemical Analysis,Microporocessor,Enviornmental Engineering, Geotechnics, Building Performance laboratories etc.


Team Oryx - Student Formula Car : Caledonian Team Oryx became the first ever team from the Middle East to design, build and submit a car for scrutineering in the prestigious Formula SAE student competition held at Silverstone, UK in July 2013

Caledonian Documentary Project: In this project initial screening of students innovative projects (from various levels and streams) is being done and the competitive ones are selected. These projects are involved in an in-house open Project Competition and the entire event is videographed and documented to create the Caledonian Projects Documentary. This would be used as a media tool for further incubation and development of the projects involved and also as a marketing gadget for CCE and CCCI

Shell Eco Marathon: Team Sadarah – participated in Shell Eco Marathon Asia-2015 in battery car category, 26th February – 1st March 2015 at Manila, Philippines.

Startup of Centre for Software engineering competency and testing: In partnership with Se-Mentor, Technopark, Trivandrum, India, CCCI was setup a Centre for software engineering competency and testing to promote IT-entrepreneurship in Oman along with successful IT-entrepreneurs in the region. A software testing company, “Muscat Software Technology LLC” registered under Ministry of Manpower was formed in August 2014.
