The MSc in Process Engineering provides postgraduate students with a comprehensive capability to invent, design, optimize and operate sustainable processes for human needs. The programme also provides a broad in-depth knowledge of current industrial practice and research in the academic discipline of process engineering.

Key Features

  • The main objective of the program is to impart application-oriented, advanced process engineering skills and knowledge about sustainable process systems for human needs and developments.
  • This program will provide a broad in depth knowledge of current industrial research and comprehensive insight about various processing industries such as food, refinery, recycling, chemical, plastics, pharmaceutical, minerals and industrial materials.
  • The program will enable student aspirants to participate in emerging process engineering research and help them to gain extensive knowledge and skills in advanced innovations happening in core areas of chemical and process engineering disciplines.
  • The program will enable student aspirants to enhance professional skills and knowledge in leadership, management, business enterprises to lead launching of innovative technologies and operating practices in process manufacturing-oriented businesses.
  • With a focus on project-based multi-disciplinary learning and advanced training, the candidate will develop professional engineering competencies in teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, communication and innovative research in process engineering arena.


  • Students who successfully complete 40 credit hours will be awarded with Post Graduate Diploma in Process Engineering.
  • Students who successfully complete 60 credit hours will be awarded Master of Science in Process Engineering.

MSc in Process Engineering is to provide the postgraduate students with a comprehensive approach to invent, design, optimize and operate sustainable processes for human needs. The design of curriculum is made-to-order to meet the needs of ever-changing technology and business environment in the context of Global as well as Sultanate of Oman perspectives. In view of the huge operation of process plants of enormous value and criticality of operational supervision needs and essentiality of the conservation aspects of these needs, the country is in need of Process Engineers with skills supported by knowledge who can operate the processes. Career opportunities exist in government sectors, Ministries and major private organizations such as Petroleum Development Oman, Sohar and Oman refinery, Occidental Inc., MB Petroleum, Shell, Oman LNG, Oman gases LLC, Tebodin, Indo Oman fertilizers and many other organizations , contractors and consultants where process operations need to be planned and to be succeeded.

Entry Criteria

  • A 4 years bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering programmes including chemical, process, petroleum, mechanical, energy and environment engineering programme.
  • Candidates from other disciplines will be considered with relevant work experience of not less than 3 years.
  • IELTS 6 or TOFEL score of 550, if Bachelor degree was not taught in English
